Hernia Mesh Lawsuits In Washington DC

Mass Tort Attorneys With A History Of Success

Our attorneys at the Ponder Legal Group, are actively investigating possible lawsuits for injuries related to hernia mesh products. Hernia mesh is designed for surgeons to repair hernias, which occur when an organ in your body pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue. Hernias in the abdomen may be caused by exercise, household activities or abdominal surgery.

Our attorneys are investigating claims regarding hernia mesh that was implanted from 2010 to the present. People have reported numerous complications related to several different hernia mesh products, including Ethicon Physiomesh, Ethicon Proceed, Atrium C-QUR, C. R. Bard Kugel, Sepramesh, 3DMax Mesh and PerFix.

Complications Related To Defective Hernia Mesh

Some of the common complications related to these defective hernia mesh products include:

  • Additional surgery to repair or replace the hernia mesh (known as “revision” surgery)
  • Bowel blockage
  • Swelling
  • Seromas (fluid collecting under the skin)

Atrium Hernia Mesh Lawsuit

Atrium is currently being sued by thousands of victims who suffered severe medical complications due to the defective and poorly made C-QUR hernia mesh that was on the market for several years.

The premise of the claim is based on two factors:

  • The mesh itself is produced from a low-grade plastic (polypropylene) that can become stuck and cause bowel blockage and other complications
  • In an attempt to resolve this defect, Atrium designed C-QUR with an omega-3 fish oil coating. This coating has caused allergic reactions and has worn off over time, resulting in the devices failing and causing the bowel blockage and other complications as if it was never coated at all.

The current lawsuits are consolidated into a multidistrict litigation (MDL), a method of consolidating many lawsuits into one location for convenience and speed of processing, located in New Hampshire. If you've suffered from defective Atrium products, we can help evaluate your case and file a suit with the MDL on your behalf.

C. R. Bard Hernia Mesh Lawsuit

Like Atrium, C. R. Bard has a line of hernia mesh products that were found to be defective and dangerous for thousands of victims throughout the US.

Many of those currently suing C. R. Bard have suffered from severe complications, including:

  • Recurring hernias
  • The mesh becoming stuck and blocking their bowels or blood flow
  • Infection
  • Fibrosis

In 2018, an MDL was established in Ohio to facilitate the process of victims filing suit against C. R. Bard. Initial settlements have been in the millions of dollars, and our attorneys are here to help you file and win your case.

Ethicon Hernia Mesh Lawsuit

Ethicon, a subsidiary of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, is currently being sued by thousands of victims in an MDL located in Georgia based on design defects and the failure to warn medical professionals of the risks associated with their hernia mesh products.

These defects have caused severe complications, including:

  • Recurrence of the hernia
  • Adhesions
  • Infections
  • Bowel blockage
  • Sepsis

The flaws in the design of Ethicon products make it difficult for your body to assimilate the mesh, and they instead sometimes cause rejection and infection. Further, Ethicon products have a record of failing and folding inside the body. If you or a loved one has suffered due to a defective hernia mesh from Ethicon, we can help you join the MDL or file an individual lawsuit.
